The Photo Imaging Council has commissioned a series of explanatory guides on digital imaging in order to help understanding of the various systems now available and the new options possible for storage, software, printing...

PIC has taken the view that most visitors to the website are interested in introductory information on digital imaging. We have therefore attempted to remove 'jargon' and to make the copy appeal to the average person seeking basic details rather than an informed user who already has a reasonable understanding of the technology.

The Guides have been written by Adrian Davies, lecturer and Deputy Head of the Arts, Media and General Education Department at NESCOT, Surrey. Adrian has set up various courses in digital imaging, including HND and degree programmes, and provides specialist training and consultancy for the photo imaging industry. He has written several books including Digital Imaging for Photographers, co-authored with Phil Fennessy, nearly into its fourth edition, and over 50 articles for journals on imaging topics.

PIC hopes that these guides will introduce the potential of digital technology for image production to those interested in photography. PIC member companies would like the public to know and obtain the best possible quality from the various products and systems available.
